Asher's Birthday

I was honored that Steph asked me to be in the delivery room while Asher was being born to take pictures.  I had never watched a birth before but I felt pretty prepared for the experience having given birth to my own child 20 months ago (in the very same hospital room, by the way - so crazy!).

Well, nothing could prepare me for something so beautiful.  Looking back, there's not really a word that describes the experience better than "holy."

Watching a child enter the world, take his first breaths, scream his first screams...I was shaking and crying and taking pictures all at the same time.  Very discreetly and calmly, of course.

The miracle of new life is so, so precious, and I was thrilled to be able to capture Justin and Steph's very first moments with their precious Asher.

 

It was really sweet to watch Justin support Steph while she was in intense labor.

Tricia + Jeff - Engaged!

I had a great time meeting Tricia and Jeff for the first time when we got together for their engagement shoot.  We have a lot in common because they spent a good portion of their relationship long distance, just like my husband and I did before we got married.  I always tell people that I feel like if your relationship can handle dating long distance, then it can handle a lot!  The communication skills learned in that type of situation are invaluable.

Anyways, Tricia and Jeff are sweet and fun, and totally in love, and also have some cute little pups who came along for the shoot.  These dogs were in heaven at Kennesaw Mountain and could only be convinced to be in a few pictures before they were off exploring again.
